Is a used RX 6800 XT for $390 with a three-month warranty worth it?

I'm in Ukraine and found a used Radeon RX 6800 XT for $390 with a three-month warranty. I haven't been able to find a cheaper option that seems trustworthy. A new RX 9060 XT 16GB costs about $545, while the RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT are around $670 and $720. Is the used 6800 XT a reasonable deal, or would it be better to pay extra for a new card?

The local market matters a lot here. Since the new RX 9060 XT 16GB is about $545, it gives you newer features, better efficiency, and a full warranty, but it is roughly 10% slower in raw performance than the 6800 XT. If you mainly want maximum rasterized performance and can properly test the used card, the $390 option is solid. If reliability and newer features matter more, saving for the 9060 XT makes more sense.

The three-month warranty makes the used card much less risky, but don’t skip testing it during the return or warranty period. Check for artifacting, crashes, abnormal hotspot temperatures, noisy bearings, and unstable VRAM. If it passes those tests and the warranty is legitimate, $390 is reasonable in your region.

That’s a fair price rather than an amazing bargain. Used RX 6800 XTs often sell around $400–$450 depending on condition, so $390 is reasonable, especially with a three-month warranty. Before buying, check the seller’s reputation, inspect the fans and cooler, and run stress tests while monitoring temperatures. It’s also worth checking for signs of heavy mining use or a modified BIOS.

Would you pay about $50 more for a new card instead, assuming I can find one at that price?
