I've been using the same PC build for several years and recently upgraded the graphics card to an ASUS TUF RTX 5080 for a newer 49-inch monitor. My current power supply is a Corsair RM750x White (2018), and the GPU came with an adapter for its newer power connector. That has me wondering whether I should replace the PSU rather than rely on the adapter. Would a quality 850W unit be sufficient for the 5080 if I'm not planning to overclock, or would upgrading to 1000W be the better long-term choice? I'd also appreciate recommendations for reliable models with a native 12V-2x6 cable.

NVIDIA’s recommended minimum is 850W, and several people are running a 5080 without problems on a good 850W unit, even with high-end CPUs. So 850W can work if the PSU is modern and high quality. That said, 1000W gives you more headroom and is probably the better choice if the price difference is reasonable, especially for a long-term upgrade.
