Is an ASUS Vivobook Without a Dedicated GPU Enough for Backend and Small AI/ML Projects?

I'm in my final year of computer science and need a laptop for daily coding, backend development, Visual Studio Code, AI/ML practice, and general projects. I'll also keep many browser tabs and development tools such as Antigravity IDE open at the same time. My budget is ₹65,000, and I'm considering an ASUS Vivobook with an Intel processor and integrated UHD graphics, but I'm unsure whether the lack of a dedicated graphics card will be a problem. Would this be suitable, or are there better options from ASUS or other brands?

With a ₹65,000 budget, an Intel Core i5 12th-generation laptop can handle coding, backend projects, multiple browser tabs, and most student-level development work. Try to prioritize 16 GB RAM or an upgradeable model, good cooling, and a comfortable keyboard over a dedicated GPU unless you specifically plan to train demanding deep-learning models locally.

For normal backend development, an integrated GPU is generally fine. The more important specifications are a recent Core i5 or Ryzen 5 processor, at least 16 GB of RAM, and a 512 GB SSD. However, “AI/ML” can mean very different things. Basic Python, data analysis, small NLP experiments, and learning projects should work locally, while computer vision, larger deep-learning models, and LLM training can require much more GPU memory. For those workloads, you can use cloud notebooks or remote GPU services instead of relying on the laptop’s integrated graphics.
