I'm considering replacing my Gigabyte RX 7600 8GB because I keep getting LiveKernelEvent 141 crashes and I'm tired of troubleshooting them. My system has an Intel Core i7-10700, an MSI MAG B560 Tomahawk WiFi motherboard, DDR4 with XMP enabled, Resizable BAR enabled, and an 850W Mars Gaming PSU. I mainly play at 1080p.
The two cards I'm considering are a Sparkle Intel Arc B580 12GB for about €340 and an RTX 5060 8GB for around €390. The B580 seems attractive because of its price and larger VRAM capacity, especially for longer-term use.
My main concern is how well the B580 would work with my older platform. Because of the motherboard and CPU, it would run at PCIe 3.0 x8, and I've heard that Intel Arc cards can have higher CPU and driver overhead than AMD or Nvidia GPUs.
For people using a B580 with an older Intel processor, how reliable are the current drivers? Have you experienced crashes, stuttering, or compatibility problems? Is PCIe 3.0 x8 noticeably limiting in actual games, and are the Sparkle models reliable? At roughly €340 versus €390 for the RTX 5060, which would you choose?

The B580 should work fine with your i7-10700 as long as Resizable BAR is enabled. I’ve used one with an i9-9900K and it handles games well. Intel drivers can still be hit or miss, but recent releases have been stable for me. The Sparkle models also don’t seem to have a particularly bad reputation, and the B580 is generally a little faster than the RX 7600 while offering 12GB of VRAM.
At 1080p, your RX 7600 is already adequate, so neither option is a dramatic upgrade. Before replacing the card, a completely clean driver removal with DDU and a fresh installation may be worth trying, along with installing the required runtime components. If you already tried both DDU and AMD’s cleanup utility without success, the warranty replacement route makes sense.
If you only want an inexpensive replacement for a failing RX 7600, the B580 offers strong value and should run modern games at 1080p. However, if you want a clearly noticeable performance increase, the RTX 5060 is the safer choice despite its smaller VRAM capacity. It should provide a more consistent uplift and has stronger ray tracing, upscaling, and feature support. The final decision may depend on whether the RX 7600 manufacturer refunds you under warranty; without that refund, replacing a mostly capable card may not be worth the cost.
Compared with an RX 7600, the B580 is more of a sidegrade than a major performance upgrade. Its main advantages are the 12GB of VRAM and potentially better long-term headroom, but Intel’s drivers are generally less mature and the card can put more load on the CPU. PCIe 3.0 x8 could also reduce performance in some situations, although the impact depends heavily on the game.
The extra VRAM is useful, but I’d still factor in the newer card’s driver maturity before treating it as a clear upgrade.

Driver problems aren’t exclusive to Intel—AMD and Nvidia can have bad releases too—but ReBAR support is especially important for Arc cards.
