I'm putting together a new gaming PC with a Radeon RX 9070 XT and Ryzen 7 7800X3D. A parts calculator estimates the system at around 650W, and I'm wondering whether the MSI MAG 750GL would provide enough power and headroom. Should I stick with 750W, or would an 850W unit be the better choice? I already found good prices locally, so the listed prices aren't important.

The estimated wattage is a recommendation range rather than a constant load, but 850W is still a sensible target. Power supplies can also lose some capacity as they age, so the additional margin is worthwhile.
An 850W power supply would be the safer choice. The price difference between 750W and 850W models is often small, and the extra headroom helps with transient power spikes and future upgrades.
If you already own the 750W unit, it should probably handle this system, since actual sustained gaming power draw is likely closer to 400–450W rather than 650W. However, if you’re buying one now, I’d choose a good-quality 850W Gold model instead.
