I'm putting together a budget gaming PC in the US. I already have a Ryzen 5 5500, 16GB of DDR4 memory, a B550M motherboard, and an 850W power supply. I paid about $300 for those parts and know the power supply is more than I need, but it was part of a good deal. I have storage from an older laptop and will receive a case as a gift, leaving roughly $250 of my $550 total budget for a graphics card. Would an RX 5600 XT be a good choice for games like War Dogs and Arma at 1080p, or would it be worth waiting a month to buy an RX 6600? I'm also open to other GPU suggestions, including used options.

The RX 5600 XT should handle 1080p reasonably well right now, but it’s an older card and may not age very well. If you can wait and afford it, the RX 6600 is the better long-term choice and usually offers better efficiency and performance.
A used RTX 3070 or 3070 Ti could make the build much stronger if you find one at a sensible price. An RTX 3080-class card is also possible, but it uses considerably more power and may be harder to fit within the budget.
I’d avoid going below an RX 6600 or RTX 3060 unless the 5600 XT is exceptionally cheap. With about $250 available, check the used market for cards such as an RTX 3070, RX 6700 XT, or RTX 4060. Just verify the card’s condition and pricing before buying.
One thing to consider is the Ryzen 5 5500 itself. It only supports PCIe 3.0, so a Ryzen 5 5600 would give you PCIe 4.0 support and generally better gaming performance. I’d prioritize the GPU first, though, unless you find a good deal on the CPU upgrade.
