Is Buying a Used GPU a Good Idea?

I'm trying to decide whether to buy a used RTX 3080 or go for the more expensive AMD 7900 GRE. Is buying used a smart choice, or should I steer clear? What are your thoughts on the price difference and performance comparisons?

Those are actually GPUs, not motherboards! Buying used can be a solid option, just make sure to see them working and run some tests if you can. The 7900 GRE is generally considered better, but how much more is it compared to the 3080?

Buying used normally isn't a bad idea, as long as the seller can demonstrate it works or there's a warranty. I've bought a bunch of used parts like my 3090 Ti and 1000W PSU, and they've all been solid. Just be cautious—I'd recommend avoiding used power supplies unless you can confirm they're almost new. If you can bring a setup to test the GPU, that's a plus!

Definitely go for a used option with prices going up! AMD often gives you the best bang for your buck in the used market. The 3080 does fine, but it might struggle with VRAM at higher resolutions. Just keep that in mind if you're gaming at 1440p or above.
