Is DDR3 Still a Good Option for a PC Build in 2026?

I'm planning to create a mini ATX build and install SteamOS for a personal project. However, I'm looking to use some old DDR3 RAM that I have lying around. Are there any tips or advice I should consider before going ahead with this?

It really depends on what you want to play. If you stick to older games, you should be fine! I've had a DDR3-based NAS running for years without a hitch. Just keep your expectations in check. What games are you thinking of playing?

I’m not sure yet, but probably just some simple party games from Steam, like Repo or maybe some emulators. Definitely need to include Bard on Board, though!
