With the rapid evolution of cloud technologies and the rise of platforms built on top of Kubernetes, I'm curious about the relevance of in-depth Kubernetes knowledge for fresh graduates in 2025. As a junior DevOps/infrastructure engineer, I've noticed significant conversation around abstractions over raw Kubernetes, tools automating processes, and how application teams shouldn't interact with Kubernetes directly. I want to know if investing the time to learn Kubernetes in depth is still beneficial or if a solid grasp of container concepts and higher-level orchestration tools will suffice. Additionally, what do employers expect a junior engineer to know about Kubernetes? If you were starting your career now, how deeply would you dive into Kubernetes?

Kubernetes is pretty much an essential skill now. Companies are moving not just from virtual machines to containerized services, but making K8s the backbone of their operations.

Right now, I work at AWS supporting EKS, and the experience is invaluable. I recommend getting as into Kubernetes as you can because it'll open doors. Just be aware it's a lot to absorb, but definitely worth it!

TechieTraveler: That sounds awesomeโ€”and good luck with the upcoming layoffs! It's tough up there.

SupportGuru101: Yeah, staying updated on these technologies is critical. Keep pushing!

In my experience, understanding Kubernetes basics is now a requirement for many roles. Ideally, youโ€™d know about deployments, services, and how to create clusters. But Iโ€™d focus on mastering the essential concepts first; you can pick up deeper knowledge as needed on the job. Remember, it's about balancing theory and practical skills!

LearnerSeeker: Awesome advice! Focusing on the essentials first makes sense.

K8sLearner101: For sure! Knowing the basics will make future learning easier.

As a junior, it's key to learn both Kubernetes and foundational Linux skills. Understanding how Linux underpins container technology is crucialโ€”for troubleshooting and beyond. Can you dive into how namespaces and cgroups work? That knowledge will really set you apart.

K8sNinja123: Great point! Blockchain can be complex; knowing the underlying tech makes a huge difference.

SysAdminDude: Yep, learning the basics will give you a better grasp of everything, including container security!

Absolutely, Kubernetes knowledge is still extremely valuable, especially with enterprise IT moving towards containerization. Many certs now target cloud and containers, so it's a good direction to head in. I'm curious thoughโ€”are you planning to master Kubernetes or just focus on using it for container workloads?

TechExplorer321: Exactly! It's great that thereโ€™s a push for cloud and containers, but I think we should also be careful about over-relying on one technology.

ContainerFanatic88: Totally agree! Just donโ€™t forget that the tech landscape can change quickly. Lets keep an eye on emerging trends.
