Is Downgrading from a 5060Ti to a 6800 Worth It for $250?

I'm considering whether it makes sense to downgrade from my 5060Ti to a 6800. A friend has the 6800 and is selling it for cheap, but I've been happy with my current card. I don't play graphically intensive games, and TechPowerUp suggests the performance difference is only around 9%. However, I've heard varying opinions — last time I asked about cards, someone mentioned that the 5060Ti 8GB was much less capable than a simple 1% performance difference implied, especially due to its memory issues. I want to know if switching to the 6800 is a sensible financial decision or if I'd be losing out on performance that I might appreciate later, especially since I'm planning to try more demanding games like Cyberpunk and RDR2. Thanks for any thoughts!

The 5060Ti has the edge in power and features, especially for newer titles with ray tracing and DLSS. If Cyberpunk and other demanding games are in your plans, the upgrade may be worth it long-term despite the cost. Even though $250 is a decent amount, you may end up regretting the downgrade as games evolve.

That makes sense, I do prefer things that just work without any hassle. Definitely will consider keeping the 5060Ti!

If you mainly play older or less demanding games, the 6800 could be a solid choice, and you'd save that $250. It's only about an 8% performance loss, so it might not feel drastic. But if you intend to get into newer AAA titles, you might struggle with ray tracing and upscaling features that the 5060Ti handles better. Think about what games you'll play in the future!
