I'm on my second day with a new iPhone 17 and haven't transferred files or used any demanding apps. Even so, the battery dropped by 26% in about two hours while I was only doing ordinary things like using WhatsApp. I've heard new phones can drain faster while setting up and optimizing in the background, but since I didn't transfer anything, I'm wondering whether this is still normal. Should I wait a few more days or consider returning the phone?

AppleCare won’t fix unusually fast battery drain, so don’t buy it just because of this. First let the phone finish settling in and look at which apps are using the most battery. If nothing explains the drain after a week, consider having the device checked or exchanged.
Give it about a week before judging the battery. New iPhones can use extra power during the first several days while finishing setup, indexing content, and optimizing the system. If the drain is still unusually high after that, then check battery usage and contact Apple support.

Thanks, that helps. I’ll monitor it for a few more days before deciding what to do.
