Is Fedora KDE Plasma a good choice for a Linux beginner?

I'm excited to move away from Windows and try a KDE Plasma desktop on my ThinkPad. I've heard Fedora offers a great KDE experience, but I've also been warned that it may not be the most beginner-friendly option. Should I jump straight into Fedora KDE Plasma, or would another distribution make it easier to get started with KDE?

Kubuntu is probably the easiest recommendation for a first KDE installation. It combines KDE Plasma with Ubuntu’s large user base, so troubleshooting guides and instructions are usually easy to find.

Fedora KDE is definitely worth trying, especially on a ThinkPad. Start with a live USB session so you can check that the Wi-Fi, graphics, trackpad, sound, and other hardware work properly before installing. If it feels overwhelming, you can always switch later.

MX Linux also offers a user-friendly KDE edition. It may be worth comparing in a live session alongside Fedora and Kubuntu to see which one feels most comfortable.

openSUSE has a polished KDE Plasma setup and is reasonably approachable. It’s another good option if you want KDE without starting with Fedora.
