Is it normal for a new MacBook Air to have a strange smell?

I recently bought a MacBook Air M4, and I've noticed a weird smell coming from the keyboard. It's been only five days since I got it, and when I open the lid after it's been closed for a while, I can smell something that's been described as acetone-like, acidic, or even like pineapple. I've run a check with a software called Mac Resource Inspector, and everything seems fine according to that. The service center also assured me everything is okay. I'm just not sure if this is something typical for a new laptop. Could anyone share their experience with this?

I don't think that smell is normal at all! I've had a few new Macs, and none of them had any weird odors. If the service center insisted it's normal, you might want to push for an exchange just to be on the safe side.

But what if they point out that they checked it and found nothing? It feels tricky to prove!

Honestly, it’s probably not the best idea to get your nostrils right up next to the keyboard! But in all seriousness, it's definitely not common for laptops to have a strong smell like that. You might want to consider getting it exchanged if it continues. It’s better to be safe!

Yeah, but that doesn't really fix the source of the smell, does it? It’s still concerning.
