Is It Okay to Feature Websites in My Inspiration Gallery Without Permission?

I'm in the process of creating a website collection or inspiration page and I'm eager to include some sites that I really admire. My plan is to showcase screenshots along with the site title, creator's name, and URL. I'll be sure to credit them properly and won't claim the work as my own. Since all of this information is public, do I need to ask the website owners for permission first? Alternatively, should I add a disclaimer stating that sites can be removed upon request? I would love to hear your thoughts on this!

Legally, you're probably fine since this falls under fair use for curation. However, ethically, it's a good idea to give a heads-up. Consider adding a "Request Removal" link in the footer, crediting their socials, and maybe shoot them a quick message like "Hey, I featured your site, hope that’s cool!" It could turn potential friction into a networking opportunity!

Honestly, this is the essence of what the web is all about! It's meant for sharing inspiration and ideas without the constant need for permission. Just keep doing what you're doing!

You're totally good! This is exactly how most design inspiration websites operate, like Dribbble or Awwwards. You don’t really need to ask for permission—just give proper credit. Adding a disclaimer about removal requests is nice, but it's not required.

No permission needed! That's basically how the web is structured. Just make sure to cite your sources properly, like an academic would, and you’ll be all set.

You're definitely in the clear. Highlighting sites you like is well within fair use. Just make sure to credit them appropriately and you'll be fine!
