I live in a small dorm room, and my roommate's setup is right at my feet. She leaves her computer in sleep mode all the time, but it frequently wakes up the monitor and lights up the RGB at night. I'm curious if that's safe for her computer in the long run, or if I should find a reason to convince her to shut it down—she hasn't seemed concerned about it so far.

Leaving it on sleep mode means she might miss important security updates since it doesn’t shut down fully. It’s also cool that she can turn the RGB lights off separately!
I've turned off sleep mode on all my PCs for over 20 years now. I prefer waiting for a boot-up instead of dealing with weird glitches. Just my personal choice, though!
Yeah, it should be okay! Sometimes computers do tasks in sleep mode. But it could help if she simply turns off the monitor before bed—it wouldn’t harm the PC at all but would definitely stop the annoying light.
It's actually fine for a modern PC to stay in sleep mode. It’s designed for that! It might even experience less wear and tear compared to being turned on and off constantly. You could suggest she use hibernate or turn off the monitor to avoid that annoying blue light at night, though. My desktop only shuts down when I’m away for a trip.
They make stickers to cover those pesky lights too. You can find them pretty cheap!
Ha! You just make it easier for me, leaving the PC on like that. 😂 Seriously though, it's not hurting anything.

So should I be leaving my PC in sleep mode more often now?
