I'm looking to buy a 9800X3D CPU for around 300€ without any warranty, and I'm curious about the risks. If the CPU fails, will it potentially damage other components like my RAM, GPU, motherboard, or power supply?

From what I've gathered, the 9800X3D failure issue has mostly been isolated to the CPU itself, particularly with AM5 motherboards, especially models from ASRock. There's no widespread evidence of these failures damaging other components.
While the chance of failure with the 9800X3D isn't super high, it does exist. Just so you know, my friend's unit was faulty right out of the box. Honestly, I would be cautious about investing in such a pricey CPU without a warranty.

I've also seen reports about some ASUS motherboards having similar issues, though those seem to have tapered off recently. Generally speaking, it can potentially damage the motherboard, but anything beyond that seems like a stretch.
