I just finished building my PC and noticed that the 12V-2x6 power cable rests against the graphics card in the area shown in the photo. Is that contact safe, or should I reroute the cable to keep it away from the GPU?

The 12V-2x6 connector itself is safe when itโ€™s installed correctly and connected directly to a compatible power supply cable. The bigger concerns are loose or partially inserted plugs, tight bends near the connector, and questionable adapters. Simply touching the GPU cooler isnโ€™t what causes failures.

That kind of contact is generally fine. The cable insulation prevents electrical arcing, and the graphics card cooler usually doesnโ€™t get hot enough to damage the wires. Also, the specific wires touching the card in your photo appear not to carry power, so they arenโ€™t a concern. Just make sure the connector is fully seated and avoid sharply bending the cable right next to the plug.

MellowCedar47: Thanks, that clears it up.
