Is it safe to upgrade my GPU while using a 13th Gen Intel i7?

I finally built my first PC after saving up for years, with the help of a friend who's experienced in building. He sold me a 13th Gen Intel i7 CPU without me knowing about some of the issues surrounding it. Now, I'm looking to upgrade my GPU from a 4060 to a 5070, but I've heard that there could be problems with the 13th Gen CPUs. Do I need to upgrade my CPU and motherboard to use the new GPU? Or would it be better to hold off on upgrading the GPU and just stick with my 4060 for a couple of years? Thanks for any insights!

A 13th Gen i7 can handle pretty much any GPU. The main problems were due to some manufacturing defects, but those should be fixed with BIOS updates. If your CPU hasn't degraded already and is stable, you should be good to go with the 5070. Just keep an eye on performance, but there's no need to panic if everything's running smoothly right now.

The 13th Gen i7 should be fine for a GPU upgrade to the 5070. Just make sure you've done the latest BIOS updates to avoid any known issues. You don’t necessarily have to replace the CPU for this upgrade.
