Is it Safe to Use Gmail for Sending Account Confirmation Emails?

I'm wondering if I can use my Gmail workspace account to send account sign-up confirmation emails. Are there any risks involved, such as the potential to get my account banned? Should I consider using dedicated email providers like Resend for better safety and reliability? I'm curious if anyone has experience with this setup.

Using Gmail for smaller volumes is okay, but itโs not ideal for sending lots of automated confirmations. You could risk hitting sending limits or even getting flagged. For anything larger scale, sticking to a proper email provider like Resend or SendGrid is the way to go. They handle deliverability better and help set up your DNS properly to avoid issues.

You can send transactional emails from your Gmail or Google Workspace account, but be aware of the limits on that. Check out the specific guidelines from Google to avoid issues.

Honestly, I'd go with Resend. It's super simple and free for starters.

If you do decide to use Gmail, I suggest creating a subdomain for sending emails, like mail.yourdomain.com. This helps protect your main domain's reputation in case of spam complaints. For a small project, Gmail is fine, but a dedicated service is better for scaling.

I use an SMTP library with my Google account to send thousands of emails every week, and it's worked without a hitch. Just start sending early to build trust and keep emails out of spam. I plan to switch to AWS SES in the future for bigger campaigns; it's way cheaper than other services.
