I have a hard drive from my previous PC that I backed up as a full image using what I believe was Veeam. I'm considering wiping the drive and using it as auxiliary storage in my new computer, but I want to be completely sure I won't lose anything important. The backup should contain everything from the old system, and I'd rather reuse this drive than spend money on another one. Is there any reason I shouldn't wipe it, and is there anything I should verify first?

If you’ve confirmed the image backup can actually be opened or restored and you don’t need the old drive as a fallback, wiping it is reasonable. Just check the drive’s health first and remember that a single backup isn’t much protection if the original and backup are on the same physical drive. An SSD for the operating system and the old hard drive for less frequently used files is a perfectly sensible setup.
