I've had my AMD Ryzen 5 3600 for about 6 years, and lately it's been running really hot. Some of my favorite games are causing my computer to freeze, and I've been forced to restart it a few times. I think it's time for a CPU upgrade. Here's what I currently have:
- **OS**: Windows 11
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Six-core
- **Motherboard**: B450 TOMAHAWK MAX
- **RAM**: 24GB DDR4 2133 (Can't use the last stick due to the cooler)
- **Storage**: WD Black 4TB HDD, WD Blue 250GB SSD, WD Black 2TB SSD
- **GPU**: Gigabyte Radeon Rx 6750xt 12GB
- **Power Supply**: Seasonic Focus SSR-650FM 650W
- **Case**: NZXT Source 210
I'm considering upgrading to the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and getting an aftermarket cooler, which I've checked to ensure it fits in my case. Do you think this upgrade is a solid plan?

Before you spend a bunch on a new CPU, you might wanna try reapplying the thermal paste first. I had similar heating issues, and a repaste worked wonders! But if you’re keen on upgrading, it’ll definitely give you a performance boost!
Sounds like a great combo! If you check Amazon, the Thermalright Phantom Spirit has a solid version for about $35, or you might wanna go for the Evo version for a little more. Both are awesome coolers! The 5800X is a solid upgrade—don't forget to sell your old 3600 along with the Wraith Prism cooler. You could pocket around $75 for it!

I appreciate the tip! I hadn’t thought of that with the paste, but I’m okay with upgrading if it helps. Thanks!
