Is It Time to Upgrade My CPU for Gaming?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my gaming rig this year and could use some advice. Currently, I have a Ryzen 5 5600X paired with a 3080 Ti, and I primarily play CPU-heavy games like Rainbow Six Siege, Hearts of Iron IV, and Crusader Kings III. At 1440p with high settings, my frame rates aren't where I'd like them to be—like I get around 130 FPS in Siege, which feels a bit low. Would upgrading to a Ryzen 7 X3D or a similar CPU make a significant difference? I'm hoping to keep my setup going for the next 3-5 years, so I'm eager for any recommendations you might have! Thanks!

If you can snag a Ryzen 7 5700X3D or 5800X3D for around $200-300, that could really boost your performance. Just be careful, as most titles don’t leverage those extra two cores much, so those older CPUs might not deliver significant gains. If upgrading to AM5 is an option for you, definitely consider it—especially if you have a Microcenter nearby. They have some great bundles for new builds!

That last bundle looks insane! I might want to swap over this summer. I’ve got high-end parts, so I’d hate to lose them, but those deals are tempting.
