Is It Time to Upgrade My CPU from i9 11900K?

I'm considering an upgrade from my i9 11900K (11th Gen) CPU since I'm experiencing a lot of stuttering and even crashes while gaming, particularly in titles like Call of Duty and Monster Hunter: World. My current setup includes a socket LGA1200 motherboard, and I use my PC for gaming and video editing. The CPU hits 100% usage frequently, and video exports are painfully slow. I'm relatively new to PC building, so any advice on upgrading without needing a new motherboard would be great!

The i9 11900K is already a powerful CPU, so it seems like your current problems might not be entirely CPU-related. It's a great chip for gaming and your motherboard is solid too!

With your current setup, it's tough to find an upgrade since there aren't many options for the LGA1200. You may want to look into getting a new motherboard along with new memory if you want a significant performance increase. Also, don't forget that your GPU is somewhat underwhelming compared to your CPU, so it might be worth considering an upgrade in that area too. Also, keep an eye on your CPU temps; the 11900K can run hot and that might be affecting your performance.

Unfortunately, there's no decent upgrade path for the LGA1200 socket. To really boost your performance, you'll need to switch to a new CPU and motherboard. If you're looking at AMD, consider the AM5 platform with a 9950X, especially the X3D variant for better gaming performance, although it might be a bit pricey.
