Is it Worth Upgrading from a 3080 Ti to a 9070 XT or 5070 Ti?

Hey everyone! I've recently upgraded my CPU to a 9800x3d, along with getting a new motherboard, SSD, and RAM—not to mention I splurged a bit due to the ongoing shortage. I primarily game at 1440p and I'm aiming for a solid 165fps in most games. I've been considering whether to keep my 3080 Ti and wait for the 50 series cards, but given the current price spikes and shortages, I'm wondering if it's better to upgrade now. Would my 3080 Ti suffice for a while longer, or is it time to make the jump?

Given the way GPU prices are trending, especially with the current market situation, I’d advise upgrading sooner rather than later if you can swing it. It might save you money in the long run!

Honestly, switching to a 9070 XT might not give you a dramatic boost—only about 20-30% better performance. If you’re not unhappy with your current frame rates, it might be better to stick with the 3080 Ti for now and wait for the next generation of GPUs. Just my two cents!

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking too. At this point, the 9070 XT is around $1k where I live, and for a small performance increase, it just doesn’t seem worth it!

I made the switch from a 3080 to a 9070 XT and it was a noticeable upgrade, especially for games like BF6 where frame rates were an issue for me. Plus, I sold my 3080, which helped cover part of the upgrade cost! Just something to consider.

With the RAM price situation worsening, getting what you can now seems like the smarter move!

The price jump isn't significant enough for me to switch right now.

It really depends on the types of games you play and your graphical settings. If you go for fast-paced FPS games on low settings, you're probably fine with the 3080 Ti. But for high-end AAA games, the 12GB of VRAM on the 3080 Ti may limit you. If you're looking at the 9070 XT or 5070 Ti, now's the time to snag them while they're still around MSRP; the prices might only go up!

Totally agree! Even if you’re playing on lower settings, with all your other high-end components, upgrading now might be a smart move before prices potentially skyrocket again.

I get that! I love cranking up all the graphics settings as high as they can go, so I would probably lean towards upgrading too!

Are you really feeling held back by your current performance? If you’re struggling to hit higher FPS on ultra settings, you might want to consider upgrading. But if you’re okay with your current settings, it might be wiser to invest in a new monitor instead.

I feel you there! I'd love to play everything on ultra, but I’m not sure I’d notice a huge change if I did. Maybe a new monitor is the better investment!

Just go for the 9070 XT if the price is right. It could definitely offer something extra for your setup!
