I'm considering whether it's a smart move to upgrade my Ryzen 5 5600X to another AM4 CPU. My main use is gaming, and I have an RTX 5070 Ti. I'm curious if the performance improvement justifies the expense, or if I should just wait for a better platform. What do you all think?

I upgraded to a 5700X3D and it made a huge difference, but I got it on sale for $200. The current prices are pretty crazy though, I wouldn't jump in unless you find a great deal.
The only upgrade worth considering is the X3D CPUs, but they're hard to find and quite expensive now. If you're not playing specific games that would benefit, I wouldn't stress about it too much.
You might do okay if you can snag an X3D for a good price, but otherwise, I'd wait it out. Even games that benefit from more cores don't always show massive gains over a 5600X.
I was in the same boat! My fiancé has a 5600X and I have a 5700X. While I thought about jumping to the 3D series, it just doesn't seem worth it for the price. I plan to hold out for AM6 instead of splurging on AM5 for just a minor upgrade.
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend the upgrade. The new X3D chips are really pricey, and the performance gain from upgrading to something like the 5700 or 5800 isn't that great when you're already on a 5600X. Best to save your cash for an upgrade to AM5 down the line, especially with RAM prices being so high right now.

Totally agree! Spending up to $450 on an X3D for a dying platform seems silly. Better off buying new RAM and going for AM5!
