I'm looking at building a PC with the AMD 7800x3d, and I've found a decent deal bringing my total cost to about $193 per item before tax. I'm currently considering whether to upgrade from the ASUS b650e to the ASUS x870e plus for an additional $100. I have a 4070 TI super from my old build that I plan to use, and I don't expect to upgrade my GPU for another three years. My goal is to future-proof my setup a bit. Should I make this upgrade now, or wait and upgrade the motherboard later?

If you can't clearly justify why you need the more expensive motherboard, then you probably don’t need it. Putting that $100 towards upgrading to the 9800x3d seems like a much better choice!
I’d recommend against upgrading to the x870e. You won’t see any real performance benefits since the B650E already offers PCIe 5.0x16 for your GPU, which the 4070 ti doesn't even utilize fully. The added features of the x870E are really only for a specific few users. Microcenter has some great deals though!
The ASUS x870e has more PCIe and USB ports, while both can handle RAM at the same speeds. The differences aren't huge, so if you don't think you'll need the extras the 870e offers, you might be fine sticking with the b650e. You could also consider putting that extra $100 towards the 9800x3d bundle instead.

Oh, I didn’t think of that. That might be the option I choose!
