Is My 500W PSU Enough for an i7 10700F and RTX 5060 Ti?

I'm currently using an i7 10700F processor and planning to upgrade to an RTX 5060 Ti. My existing power supply unit (PSU) is 500W. I'm concerned about whether this will be sufficient for my setup, especially since it may draw a maximum of around 420W under load. Should I consider upgrading my PSU or is 500W enough?

If you've tweaked your i7 10700F to limit its draw to 65W, you might be safe. But remember, it can pull significantly more if not configured to that limit. A lot depends on your motherboard and how it handles power.

You're probably going to be okay with a 500W PSU, but keep in mind that GPUs can have power spikes, potentially drawing 2 to 3 times their rated power momentarily. So if you're really close to your PSU's output limit, those spikes might cause instability or crashes. If everything works fine during gaming, you should be good. However, be aware that if you start facing crashes, it could indicate that your PSU is struggling.

You should also check what the recommendations for your GPU are. Typically, for an RTX 5060 Ti, the suggested PSU is about 600-650W. If you operate below those recommendations, don’t be surprised if issues pop up.
