Hey folks! I'm seeking advice on whether I should upgrade my gaming PC soon. Here's my setup: I'm running a GeForce RTX 3080, an Intel i7-12700, 64GB of DDR4 RAM, and an ASUS TUF GAMING motherboard. I primarily game at 1440p and my build has been performing well so far. With some exciting new game releases coming in 2026, I'm starting to wonder if I need to upgrade to keep up. 1. Do you think my system will still handle 1440p gaming well over the next 2-3 years? 2. If upgrades are necessary, what should I target first – the GPU, CPU, or RAM? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Unless you have cash to burn, I think you'd be fine! The 3080 is still great for 1440p. You could consider a 14th gen i9 for a boost if you're really into competitive games.
Man, I’d love to have your setup! You should be good for 1440p until at least late 2028. If you're gaming at 1080p, you're set for much longer!
You've got a solid build there! I don't really see a need to upgrade unless you want the absolute latest hardware. The RTX 3080 should handle 1440p gaming nicely for a while!
Your rig is pretty awesome! You might consider a GPU upgrade like the 5080 down the line if prices drop, but it's hard to justify that investment now. Just enjoy gaming!
What about the 5070 Ti? I hear it's cheaper with minimal performance loss at 1440p.
I've heard AMD CPUs are better for gaming. Think it's worth switching from Intel?
I have a similar build with a 5070 Ti and it runs everything smoothly in 1440p and even 4k. You're in good shape for a few years; maybe just upgrade the GPU later!
Honestly, if your setup still feels good, why upgrade? Unless you notice serious performance issues, it might not be worth your while. 1440p gaming should be solid with what you have!
I'm starting to think my CPU might be the bottleneck. I've had some issues in new games. That said, it might be game optimization too.

That sounds like a plan! I have a Noctua cooler, so I should be good with temps if I go for the i9.
