Hey everyone, I need some advice about my external HDD. I got a 4TB TOSHIBA MQ04UBB400 late last December and I've been hearing some scraping sounds for about a year now whenever it revs up. Overall, it's been working fine, but I'm starting to get a bit worried. I checked with CrystalDiskInfo and here are the key values:
- Read Error Rate: Current: 100, Worst: 100, Threshold: 50
- Reallocated Sectors Count: Current: 100, Worst: 100, Threshold: 50
- UltraDMA CRC Error Count: Current: 200, Worst: 253, Threshold: 0
Should I be concerned about these sounds or the data? Thanks for any help!

The current values for those metrics are on a scale where 100 is good and 0 is bad, so it looks like your drive stats are fine. However, weird noises could be a red flag. Do you happen to have a screenshot of what CrystalDiskInfo is showing?
As a precaution, always backup anything important to avoid any surprises.
What’s the overall "health" rating from CrystalDiskInfo? That could give more context on the drive's condition.
It says 'Good'. Thanks for asking!
Generally speaking, if your HDD is making any unusual sounds, that's definitely a reason to be cautious. I'd recommend ensuring that you have backups of any important files stored on it, just in case.

Sure, here's a screenshot of the info: https://preview.redd.it/moz85jo3kthg1.png?width=674&format=png&auto=webp&s=17d3e25294887b818f479ebc2e3db1a4826732f1
