Is My PC Too Old for Gaming?

I'm not very tech-savvy and mainly use my PC for work, but I also have a few games on it, especially War Thunder. Recently, after playing for just 1-2 games, my whole PC crashes, and I notice it getting warm after about 5-8 minutes of gameplay. Here are my specs:
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core, 3.60 GHz
- RAM: 16.0 GB
- Storage: 466 GB SSD (Samsung SSD 980)
- Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti (8 GB)
Can someone help me figure out if my PC is outdated or if there's something else causing these issues?
