I've been having a lot of strange issues with my PC lately. My computer keeps restarting and I get a blue screen error saying that wdfilter.sys has failed. Updates for my Windows have been failing to download, and I can't update virus definitions with Windows Defender. Also, my Windows search indexing has been turned off, and when I tried to do a system restore, it failed with error code 0x80042306. I've uninstalled some programs, but they keep reappearing after a restart. To make things worse, my internet browsing history resets to December 8th every time I restart my PC. I can't run a Windows Defender offline scan or boot into safe mode. Even the Google Chrome shortcut on my desktop keeps changing its icon randomly until I restart. I managed to download Malwarebytes, but I can't get it to run due to errors. This has been ongoing for about two weeks, and I'm not sure if it's my SSD (which is at 91% health) failing or if there's some nasty malware at play.

It sounds like you have a lot going on with your system. Honestly, if I were you, I'd consider doing a clean install of Windows using a USB. That way, you'll have a fresh start and can better determine what's causing all these issues. It can really help clear up problems if they’re software-related.

But couldn't it all be related to a single cause? I mean, I ran 'sfc /scannow' and it found some corrupted files, but even after it said they were repaired, they came back every time I restarted. Should I try running DISM after 'sfc'? That might help, right?
