I'm in high school and planning to major in computer science so I can become a software developer. It seemed like a secure career choice growing up, but with AI advancements, I'm starting to worry that the programming field could shrink significantly. Is it still a safe option to go into this industry considering the impact of AI?

Nothing is 100% safe these days. As AI keeps advancing, it’s hard to predict how jobs will change in the next 5-10 years. Still, computer science tends to offer good pay and career growth. Just be prepared for more competition ahead!

Definitely, but think about specializing in areas like AI algorithm development. That could be a smart move!

You're probably going to see a lot of negativity here, especially on Reddit. I say do your own research rather than just relying on what people say in forums. It’s important to look at job trends yourself.

Honestly, there's a lot of uncertainty right now. The market got really competitive with all the new grads entering during COVID, and AI is definitely a game changer. A lot of people are feeling anxious about job security in programming as AI tools evolve. It’s a tough landscape out there.

True, but I still believe there will be plenty of programming jobs, especially for those who can adapt and work alongside AI.
