Is the 5080 Worth the Extra Cash Compared to the 5070ti for a New PC Gamer?

I'm planning to build a PC in the next couple of weeks and need some advice. As someone who's only ever gamed on consoles, I want to make sure I get a solid graphics card for my new setup, which I also need for engineering work. I'm torn between the 5070ti and the 5080. The 5080 is a bit over my budget, but if it's really worth the extra money, I might consider stretching my budget. I play games like Call of Duty, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Grand Theft Auto 6 when it comes out, along with a variety of story-driven games. Do you think a former console gamer like myself will see enough of a difference in performance to justify the higher price tag for the 5080? If I go with the 5070ti, I might be gaming at 1440p on an OLED, but with the 5080, I'm thinking about 4K. Any insights would be really appreciated, thanks!

The 5080 isn't really worth the extra money right now. It's only about 15% more powerful than the 5070ti, and for the price difference, you can get a similar performance boost with the 5070ti through overclocking. Plus, 5070ti is perfect for entry-level PC gaming.

Exactly! Most of us coming from consoles won’t need that extra performance initially. The 5070ti is already a beast.

If budget allows, sure, go for the 5080, but the 5070ti performs amazingly! It handles 4K pretty well with DLSS. You’ll definitely feel the upgrade from consoles, no matter which card you choose.

Totally! The 5070ti is more than enough for a first-time PC gamer, especially when coming from the console realm.

Honestly, I game in 4K on my 5070ti and it plays quite smoothly. I mostly use DLSS to boost performance, and it does a fantastic job. You might find that the 5070ti is more than sufficient.

Right! I’ve been using the 5070ti for ultrawide gaming, and I don’t regret not going for the 5080 at all.

I just switched to PC gaming a few months ago and went with the 5070ti instead of the 5080. It’s performed exceptionally well for me on all my favorite games, and I’m still getting a fantastic experience. Maybe save that extra budget for accessories!

If you're on a budget, I would recommend the 5070ti. It's a solid card that will handle 1440p gaming really well and is great for anyone just moving from console. You’ll notice a massive difference compared to 60fps on a console!

Totally agree! The 5070ti has similar VRAM to the 5080, so you’re good for most games.
