I mainly play competitive games such as Marvel Rivals, Overwatch, and Deadlock at 1080p, so I'm considering a CPU upgrade before replacing my graphics card. In Canada, a Ryzen 7 5800X3D would cost about 489 CAD, while a Ryzen 5 7600X3D bundle with a motherboard and DDR5 memory would be around 949 CAD. I'm planning to upgrade to a GPU in the class of the Radeon RX 9070 XT later, and I've heard the 5800X3D should still pair reasonably well with a card like that. Is the extra cost of moving to the 7600X3D platform worthwhile for competitive gaming and future upgrades, or would the 5800X3D be the better value?

The 7600X3D is the faster option and offers more headroom, but the additional cost is significant because you’re paying for DDR5 memory and a new motherboard. The extra CPU performance matters most if you’re targeting very high refresh rates, such as 240Hz or above, or playing especially CPU-intensive games. With a regular high-refresh monitor, the 5800X3D may provide better value.
If you can comfortably afford it, I’d lean toward the 7600X3D bundle because the platform has a longer upgrade path. You could also sell your current CPU, motherboard, and RAM to reduce the difference.
