Is the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X a Good Choice for a Budget Build?

I'm looking at an AM5 build that comes with everything apart from a CPU and GPU, and it already has 32GB of RAM. I'm considering the Ryzen 7 7700X as the processor. It's for my wife, so we don't need anything too extravagant—just something reliable. I plan to pair it with a 9060 XT for now, with the option to upgrade the GPU in the future. We're aiming for 1440p gaming if we can find a good monitor at a reasonable price. I'm hoping to get some opinions on the 7700X and whether it's a solid CPU for these needs.

The 7700X is definitely a fantastic option! There's also the 9600X, which is a bit cheaper but you’ll lose out on some cores. Just remember to check if your motherboard needs a BIOS update for that one.

I've been using the 7700X and it's been solid for everything I do. If you're pairing it with a midrange GPU like the 9060 XT, it should work perfectly without any issues.

I've had my 7700X for nearly three years, and it's been fantastic. It runs everything well, and even with a 4080 on a 1440p ultrawide display, I haven't had any complaints. Just keep an eye on temperatures; a good cooler is important!

In my setup with a 7700X and a 4070 Super, I've found it to be more than enough for 1440p gaming. You won't necessarily need to spend extra on an upgraded CPU if you're focused on GPU performance. It performs great in games that rely more on graphics.

This CPU is great for a wide range of tasks. Unless you're running a server, it should handle anything else with ease.
