I upgraded from an 8GB RTX 3050 to a Sparkle Titan Arc B580 late last year. With GPU prices climbing, I'm wondering whether the B580 should remain capable for the next three to five years or whether I should move to a 16GB card such as the Radeon RX 9060 XT. The 9060 XT seems close to the B580 in performance, so I'm not sure the additional VRAM alone would make it a worthwhile upgrade. I mainly play at 1440p on medium-to-high settings, although I also use 1080p at high settings for some games. My system has an Intel Core i5-12600K, 32GB of DDR4-3200 memory, a Gigabyte B760 Gaming Plus motherboard, and a 1000W power supply. Nothing is currently struggling, but I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade now or wait for prices and future GPU generations to develop.

VRAM requirements will probably increase as newer games arrive, especially at 1440p, but having 16GB does not automatically make a similarly performing card a worthwhile upgrade. Since you aren’t experiencing stuttering or needing to lower settings, waiting is the better choice. When the B580 genuinely starts feeling slow, target a card that is noticeably faster rather than upgrading only for the memory capacity.
If your current games are running well, there’s no strong reason to replace the B580 right now. The RX 9060 XT would offer more VRAM, but its overall performance is close enough that it may feel more like a sidegrade than a real upgrade. Keep the B580 and reassess when a future card offers a clear performance increase, or consider buying used if it starts falling behind.
That was my concern too. I’m mostly wondering whether the extra 4GB is enough by itself to justify changing cards, even though the performance is similar.
The system is running everything I play comfortably at the moment, so I’ll probably hold onto the B580 and wait for a more meaningful performance jump.
