I ordered a 5600 MT/s DDR5 kit, but the package I received is labeled CMK32GX5M2E6000C36W. I can't post a picture right now and want to confirm whether this is actually the 6000 MT/s, CL36 version before opening the package.

The “6000C36” portion of the model number is the key: it identifies the kit as 6000 MT/s with CL36 timings. You can also confirm the programmed memory information with CPU-Z or OCCT after installation, although the model number is already a strong indication.

It may be worth considering the return and warranty implications before treating it as a free upgrade. If the item doesn’t match your receipt, proving which kit you purchased could be difficult later, especially if you need a replacement or warranty claim.

Would it be safer to return it now and have the retailer send the exact kit I ordered?

Yes. The model number indicates a 32GB kit made of two 16GB DDR5 modules rated for 6000 MT/s at CL36. It appears you received an upgrade from the 5600 MT/s kit you ordered. Once installed, you’ll need to enable the appropriate XMP or EXPO profile in the BIOS to run it at its advertised speed.

Yes, I definitely ordered the 5600 MT/s version, so I wanted to verify the label before opening it.
