I'm curious about the G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series 64GB 6000 CL28 RAM (model F5-6000J2836G32GX2-TZ5NR). I find it odd that it's not listed on the QVL for many AM5 motherboards, while other models like the CL30 and CL26 versions seem to pop up frequently. I know the QVL isn't definitive proof of compatibility, but I'm wondering why this particular RAM is so hard to find there. Has anyone experienced issues using this RAM kit?
Answers
Not being on the QVL just means that the specific combo wasn't tested. It could be that it's newer or less common. It doesn't reflect on its quality or performance, so it should still work just fine with the right settings.

Motherboard manufacturers just can't test every single RAM kit out there. With so many different memory options being released all the time, the QVL list becomes outdated fast. It's definitely safer to go for RAM on that list, but it doesn't mean you can't use others that aren't listed.

I thought the Z5 Neo was generally compatible with AM5 boards. That's what makes its absence on the QVL so puzzling!
TechieTurtle92: Exactly! Thatโs why this whole situation feels odd to me.

The QVL often gets outdated quickly, especially when a RAM kit comes out after the motherboard. Vendors rarely update the list. You might want to check G.SKILLโs official QVL list for this RAM. Sometimes lower latency RAM like this can require tweaking in BIOS for optimal performance. Also, G.SKILL recently settled a class action lawsuit, so they might be a bit cautious with advertising right now.
TechieTurtle92: Got it, thanks for the info!
