I'm currently using a GTX 1650 along with a Ryzen 5 5500 processor and 16GB of RAM, but I'm struggling to run most modern games even at the lowest settings, and it's really frustrating. My budget is a maximum of 400 euros, and I'm considering the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7. Do you think it's worth it, or would there be better options around the same price, preferably with RTX support? I've realized my motherboard (A520M DS3H V2) and CPU limit my upgrades since they only support PCIe Gen 3. Should I save up for a complete upgrade, or go ahead and buy the 5060 or perhaps the 9060XT or Arc B5380 and upgrade later?

Maybe consider that the performance loss with the 5060 would only be about 5%, but it’s not much for AAA games, especially above 8GB. Just be aware that it's limited by the x8 lanes. If it were x16, I'd say go for it, but given your setup, it may not be worth it.
Right! The PCIe 3.0 speeds on your setup would really hold it back.
I’d suggest looking into getting a Ryzen 5 5600 CPU and the Intel ARC B580 12GB for a total around 400 Euros. This combo offers a significant performance boost! Check out gaming performance comparisons online to see what you’d be getting. It could serve you much better than the 5060.
This seems like a solid solution, I agree!
Yeah, that’s a great suggestion. Worth looking into!
I wouldn’t recommend the 5060. Your CPU and motherboard support only PCIe Gen 3, while the 5060 runs on Gen 5. This mismatch will cause significant issues. You might want to consider the 9060XT instead since it might align better with your current setup.
What’s your source for that information?
Isn't the 9060XT using Gen 5 too?
Given your current bottleneck issues with your CPU and motherboard, I’d recommend considering other setups. For example, the Ryzen 5 5600XT with a compatible motherboard like the ASUS Prime B550M-A alongside a decent GPU like the RTX 3060 could fit your budget better. This will give you more room to improve performance for modern games without breaking the bank! Don’t forget to check out used options for better deals!
I think you’re spot on! Finding a GPU that gives decent VRAM is key.
Thanks for the info! I’ll look into the 3060.
If the RTX 5060 8GB isn’t your only choice, definitely forget about it. The PCIe Gen 3 limitation means you wouldn’t be getting the full potential out of it without an upgrade.
Yikes, sounds rough. I’m planning to upgrade my CPU and motherboard soon, would getting either the 5060 or the 9060XT be worthwhile now?
Totally agree with this perspective!

Exactly! If the 5060 were using full x16 lanes, I’d be more inclined to say it's a decent buy, but with the current limitations, I wouldn’t recommend it.
