Is the GTX 1080 Ti a Good Option in 2026?

I'm currently using an RX 6500 XT, but it's really struggling with many of the games I'm trying out. I'm considering switching to the GTX 1080 Ti since it's one of the more affordable powerful GPUs available in my area. However, I'm unsure if buying such an old GPU is worth it at this point. What do you think? Will the GTX 1080 Ti still hold up in 2026?

If you’re gaming at 1080p or even 1440p with older titles, the 1080 Ti can still deliver decent performance, but the lack of driver support is a red flag. I’d be cautious if you're thinking long-term. A card like the RTX 2080 Super might be a better option.

I used a GTX 1080 Ti until recently, and while it played many games decently on medium settings, it's showing its age. You’ll notice driver support dropping off sooner than later. If you can snag it for cheap, it might last you a while but don’t expect it to keep up with future releases that demand more.

Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend the 1080 Ti anymore. It lacks support for ray tracing and newer features, making it obsolete for some upcoming games. GPUs like the RX 6600 or RTX 2060 Super would be much better choices for playing modern games without issues.

In 2026, not having the latest drivers could seriously limit your gaming experience. Games will increasingly require features like ray tracing. I’d suggest looking for a newer card if you can find one within your budget.

It really depends on the games you want to play, the settings, and your resolution. The GTX 1080 Ti outperforms the RX 6500 XT, so it should feel like a big upgrade in that regard. Just keep in mind that for newer titles with ray tracing, you might find it lacking.

Yeah, but if you can find an RTX 3060 for a reasonable price, it might be a better investment. It has more VRAM and newer tech like DLSS, so it's more future-proof.
