Is the October 24H2 Update Resetting Pinned Start Menu Items?

I'm dealing with an issue after the October 24H2 cumulative update where my user-pinned start menu items keep resetting. We usually manage pinned items with a registry file that fixes the start menu to only pin the Company Portal, allowing users to freely pin or unpin other apps. While this setup was working fine for almost two years, the recent update has caused the start menu to revert back to just showing the Company Portal every few hours. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

It sounds like you might be pushing the boundaries with how you're managing pinned items. Using registry manipulation isn't the officially supported method, which could explain the resetting issue you're seeing after the update. You might want to stick to the supported configurations moving forward.

I get where you're coming from, but the supported XML method totally broke a while back, losing users' pinned items. The registry route was a workaround that worked for us until now. If there's a new method that actually works, I'm all ears!
