I'm currently using a Ryzen 7 5800XT with an RTX 3060 12GB, and I'm looking to upgrade for 1440p gaming. The RX 9070 XT costs about $200 more than the standard RX 9070 where I live. Is the extra performance worth paying for, or would the RX 9070 offer better value?

The RX 9070 XT is roughly 10–15% faster at 1440p, but a $200 premium is significantly more than that performance increase. If the XT were only around 15–20% more expensive, it would be easier to justify. At this price gap, the regular RX 9070 is probably the better value, especially since you can tune it to narrow the performance difference.
I’d lean toward the RX 9070 with a $200 difference. The XT will perform better, but you’re paying considerably more for a relatively modest improvement in most games. The standard model should still be a major upgrade over an RTX 3060 for 1440p.
The RX 9070 XT also uses noticeably more power for that extra performance, which can mean higher temperatures, more fan noise, and greater power demands. The regular RX 9070 is easier to cool and may deliver a better overall experience if efficiency matters to you.

That’s helpful. I hadn’t considered the power and thermal difference, so the standard RX 9070 may make more sense.
