I'm putting together a gaming PC in Italy with a budget of roughly €800–€900, excluding peripherals. I mostly play heavily modded Minecraft, but I'd like enough performance for more demanding games later. My current parts list totals about €902 and includes a Ryzen 5 5500, B550 motherboard, 16GB of DDR4-3200 memory, a 512GB NVMe SSD, and a Sapphire RX 9060 XT 8GB. An RTX 5060 Ti is only about €14 more than the graphics card I selected, so I'm wondering whether it would be the better choice, particularly for 1080p gaming and upscaling. I also have a €50 Amazon gift card and would like advice on the best upgrade to make with it. Is 16GB of RAM enough, or could it hold back heavily modded Minecraft? Would it be better to spend more on the CPU? Finally, are there any stores or bundle deals around Milan that offer something similar to the component bundles available from large US retailers?

I’d prioritize the Ryzen 5 5600 with the gift card or by trimming other parts before spending extra on the graphics card. Sixteen gigabytes is still usable, but heavily modded Minecraft can benefit from 32GB, particularly if you run large modpacks alongside other programs. The 512GB SSD is also fairly small for a modern gaming library, so check whether a larger, better-priced NVMe drive is available. For 1080p, a balanced system with a Ryzen 5 5600, 32GB of RAM, and whichever graphics card offers the best local price would make more sense than pairing an expensive GPU with the Ryzen 5 5500.
The Ryzen 5 5500 is the weakest part of the list. It has less cache than the Ryzen 5 5600 and uses PCIe 3.0, while newer graphics cards may use an x8 PCIe connection. The PCIe limitation usually won’t destroy performance, but the 5500’s lower CPU performance can matter in Minecraft, high-refresh 1080p gaming, and CPU-heavy titles. If possible, use a Ryzen 5 5600 instead. A reasonably priced used Ryzen 5 3600 could be a fallback, but the 5600 is the better long-term choice.
If the RTX 5060 Ti is genuinely only €14 more, it’s the more attractive option for this build, especially if you care about upscaling and newer features. Just confirm whether it’s the 8GB or 16GB version before buying. At 1080p, either card should work well, but 8GB may become limiting in some newer games over time. If the RX 9060 XT 16GB is only slightly more expensive than its 8GB version, that would also be worth considering.
The 5060 Ti I found is the 8GB model. A regular RTX 5060 is about €355, so I’m also considering saving the money and putting it toward the processor.
Could you explain how the processor can hold back the graphics card? I understand that the 5500 is slower, but I’m not sure how the PCIe and CPU limitations affect GPU performance.
