I'm planning to build a gaming PC and the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB is about the most powerful graphics card I can afford. I was interested in the XFX Mercury model, but it seems to be unavailable. Are there other 9060 XT models worth considering, preferably with three fans?

The 16GB model is the one to get, particularly for newer games and 1440p. It should pair reasonably well with a Ryzen 7 5800X, although that platform is older, so make sure the motherboard BIOS supports the processor and that the rest of the build is balanced.
It’s a good budget card, but $450 or more feels overpriced. At that point, compare it with deals on a 9070 GRE or other faster cards before buying. Pricing matters more than the cooler design.
Yes, especially the 16GB version. It’s one of the strongest value options in this price range and should handle 1080p at ultra settings, plus entry-level 1440p gaming. Just keep an eye on the price, since it becomes less appealing if a faster card is available for a similar amount.
The specific brand usually doesn’t make a huge performance difference. The XFX Swift, ASUS TUF, PowerColor Hellhound, and Gigabyte Gaming OC are all reasonable choices. Buy whichever 16GB model is available at a good price. Three fans can help with cooling, but the 9060 XT’s relatively low power draw means a quality two-fan card should also run comfortably and may be quieter.
Most of the 9060 XT models I’m finding are above that price. The only similarly priced 9070 GRE cards I’ve seen have 12GB, so I’m unsure whether that tradeoff is worthwhile.
