My RX 6750 XT is currently being inspected by the shop because its hotspot temperature reached about 110°C only 30 seconds into a game lobby. If the shop refunds me roughly 2,100 PLN (about $560), I'm considering replacing it with an RX 9060 XT 16GB.
I mainly want reliable 1080p gaming at 75 FPS on medium-to-high settings without ray tracing, while keeping temperatures and fan noise reasonable. Ideally, the card should remain capable for at least four years. I usually play games a year or two after release, so I'm more concerned with running older and established games than playing every new AAA title immediately.
My CPU is an Intel i5-12600KF with 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory, and my power supply is 700W. My case only has around 280mm of GPU clearance. I'm not especially interested in ray tracing or AI features, although I'm fine using upscaling such as FSR in quality mode. Is the RX 9060 XT 16GB a meaningful enough upgrade from the RX 6750 XT, or would another card be a better choice for this budget?

The RX 9060 XT is a reasonable replacement if you receive a refund and the price difference is small, especially because you want 16GB of VRAM, lower power use, and a card that fits a compact case. However, if the 6750 XT is repaired and works properly, keeping it is probably the better value. For a noticeable upgrade, save toward an RX 9070 or another card in that performance tier, provided you can find a short enough model.
For 1080p, the 9060 XT 16GB should meet your target comfortably and should also handle 1440p with sensible settings and upscaling. The extra VRAM and newer architecture are useful for longevity, but they don’t change the fact that average performance is fairly close to the 6750 XT. It makes more sense if your current card is refunded and you can get the newer card for only a small additional cost.
The RX 9060 XT 16GB is generally only around 10–15% faster than the RX 6750 XT in traditional rasterized gaming, with some tests landing closer to 20%. That makes it a modest refresh rather than a dramatic upgrade. It does offer lower power consumption, better ray tracing, newer media features, and access to newer FSR features, but the raw FPS increase alone probably isn’t worth replacing a healthy 6750 XT.
If you want a genuinely transformative jump, you’d be better off saving for something around the RX 9070 class, assuming you can find a model that fits your case and budget.
Before deciding, make sure the original card’s temperature problem isn’t caused by a poor cooler, dust, mounting pressure, or inadequate case airflow. A 110°C hotspot almost immediately is not normal, although hotspot temperatures can vary between cards. Your 12600KF should be more than adequate for this class of GPU, so a CPU bottleneck probably won’t hide much of the difference.
A custom fan curve can help keep temperatures under control, but forcing the fans to 100% at a certain temperature will increase noise. It’s better to check the cooler and airflow first rather than treating maximum fan speed as the only solution.
FSR 4 and improved ray tracing can make the newer card feel more capable in supported games, but those features won’t provide a large improvement in every title.
