Is the Ryzen 9 5950X still a good choice in 2025?

I'm currently using a Ryzen 3600, GTX 1660, and 32GB of RAM, and I'm considering an upgrade. With DDR5 RAM prices skyrocketing, I'm likely not going to switch to that platform. I'm interested in getting an RX 9070 XT but I'm unsure about which CPU to pair it with since the 5700X3D and 5800X3D are out of stock in my area. I'm leaning towards the Ryzen 9 5950X but I'm not sure if it's still relevant nowadays. Any suggestions?

If you don’t need the extra cores for work or productivity, I’d recommend sticking with a Ryzen 5 like the 5600, 5700X, or 5800X instead. They provide great gaming performance and should give you a significant upgrade over your 3600. The 5950X is more geared towards productivity, and for gaming, it might not be worth the price unless you find it at a bargain. An 8-core CPU should do just fine, especially for future-proofing with some new games coming out that might require it.

Thanks for the tip! Do you think the 5700X would hold back the RX 9070 XT?
