I recently ordered a SOYO World Premiere AMD B550M Gaming motherboard for an HTPC build with a Ryzen 5 5600X. The price looked attractive, and the few reviews I found seemed fairly positive, but I'm unfamiliar with SOYO's current motherboard quality. Is this board dependable, and are there any concerns with its VRM cooling, BIOS support, or feature set?

I have used SOYO B450M and B75M boards. They worked for basic tasks, but I wouldn’t rely on them for long-term support because BIOS updates and compatibility information can be difficult to verify outside China. They’re probably fine for a low-risk gaming or media system if everything works out of the box, but for a new build I’d choose a more established manufacturer if the price is similar.
I’d probably avoid this particular board. The VRM heatsink appears to be mostly decorative and may not actually contact the components it’s meant to cool. Also, one of the main reasons to choose B550 over B450 is PCIe 4.0, but this board appears to provide only PCIe 3.0. The 5600X isn’t especially demanding, but the weak BIOS support and questionable design make it a poor value unless it’s dramatically cheaper than established alternatives.
That’s helpful, thanks. I found a new Gigabyte B550M K for about the same price, so I cancelled the SOYO and went with the Gigabyte instead.
SOYO was a familiar name years ago, but the brand disappeared from much of the motherboard market for a long time. The newer boards may be usable, but their limited track record and uncertain update support make them harder to recommend over a similarly priced Gigabyte, MSI, or ASUS model.
I ended up choosing a Gigabyte B550M K at the same price for the HTPC, which seems like a safer option.
