Is There an Updated Compatibility List for Games on Linux?

I'm considering switching Linux to my primary operating system, but gaming compatibility is a major factor. I've heard that Steam's Proton lets many Windows games run on Linux, and I'm specifically interested in titles with a Platinum rating or better. Is there an actively maintained database that tracks compatibility for both older and recently released games? I'd also like to understand whether Gold-rated games generally work well after applying a few tweaks.

For a quick check, look up the specific game in ProtonDB rather than relying only on the overall rating system. Hardware, graphics drivers, multiplayer anti-cheat, and recent updates can all affect whether a title works smoothly on your particular setup.

For games outside Steam, tools like Lutris and Heroic Games Launcher can help manage titles from stores such as GOG and Epic. They support different Wine or Proton versions and can also launch games from local installers or executables. Steam itself can handle some of this too, but these launchers offer more convenient management for non-Steam libraries.

ProtonDB is probably the best-known compatibility database for this. It lists individual games along with user reports and ratings such as Platinum, Gold, and lower categories. The reports often include useful launch options or workarounds, so a Gold rating can still mean the game runs very well once you make a few adjustments.

MellowPine47: Thanks! A lot of the games I play are rated Gold, so it sounds like they may still be perfectly usable with a little setup. Iโll keep checking the reports before making the switch.
