Is this $4,000 PC build overkill for Minecraft with maximum settings and shaders?

This is my first PC build, and I'm still learning how the specifications translate into real-world gaming performance. My main goal is to play Minecraft at maximum settings, with a very high render distance and shaders enabled. The current parts list is: AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D, ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360, Gigabyte X870 EAGLE WIFI7 motherboard, 64 GB DDR5-6400 CL32 memory, Samsung 9100 PRO 4 TB PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD, Gigabyte AORUS MASTER GeForce RTX 5070 12 GB, Lian Li O11 VISION COMPACT case, and a be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 1200 W power supply. The build costs about $4,000, and I'd prefer not to exceed that. Are these parts compatible, am I missing anything important besides an operating system, and are there better ways to spend the budget or worthwhile upgrades?

The build puts too much money into capacity and premium components that won’t significantly improve gaming performance. Minecraft will run extremely well on it, but 64 GB of RAM, a 4 TB PCIe 5.0 SSD, a 360 mm liquid cooler, and a 1,200 W power supply are mostly unnecessary for this use. If you have the budget and like the parts, it will work, but you could save a substantial amount without giving up practical performance.

The best changes depend on your target resolution, but a less expensive X3D processor paired with a stronger GPU would make more sense for overall gaming. Something like a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Radeon RX 9070 XT, or a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, would be a more balanced combination. The 1,200 W power supply is also excessive; 850 W should be sufficient for most versions of this build.

You may not need to downgrade the processor if the 9850X3D is already within budget, especially if the graphics cards are similarly priced. The important point is to balance the CPU and GPU instead of spending heavily on parts that won’t noticeably improve Minecraft performance.
