Is This $550 Gaming PC Listing Legit, or Too Good to Be True?

I'm considering driving about 90 minutes to buy a gaming PC listed for $550. The system includes a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Thermalright Assassin 120 SE cooler, ASUS TUF RTX 3060 Ti, MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi motherboard, 32GB Lexar Thor DDR5-6000 memory, a 1TB M.2 SSD, and a 750W 80+ Gold power supply. The seller may also include a wide 1080p curved monitor. The price seems unusually low, so I'm trying to figure out whether it could be a legitimate bargain or a scam. What should I verify before making the trip or handing over money?

Arrange the exchange at a police-station safe-trade area or another monitored public location, and bring someone with you. Donโt send a deposit, accept excuses about why you canโt test it, or let the seller rush you. Verify the serial numbers and make sure the parts in the case match the listing before paying.

That price is suspiciously low, especially because the CPU and motherboard alone can represent a large portion of the buildโs value. Ask the seller to demonstrate that the computer boots, recognizes all of the hardware, and runs a quick benchmark or stress test. Donโt pay until youโve seen it working in person.

Check the sellerโs account age, ratings, previous listings, and whether the photos look copied or inconsistent. Ask why theyโre selling it and see whether they can answer basic questions about the parts. It could be someone who urgently needs money, but you should still treat the listing as high risk until everything checks out.

It might be a legitimate emergency sale, but the combination of a high-end CPU and a $550 asking price makes a scam much more likely than an ordinary bargain. Photos and a video arenโt enough because they can be reused or staged. If the seller wonโt let you inspect and benchmark it in person, pass on the deal.

QuietMaple6: A low price can happen with genuine sellers, but Iโd only make the drive if they agree in advance to let you test the full system. Otherwise, the fuel and time could be wasted.
